Since he was a young boy, Ghazi Hanania has been an advocate for the Palestinian people. With his father, he attended meetings at the American Federation of Ramallah (AFRP), an organization that works to “celebrate, strengthen and advance the Palestinian heritage and values of the Ramallah family in the US and Palestine.” He also visited hospitals in Palestine that his father worked to fund. Zizo volunteered for Islamic Relief USA in Alexandria, VA and packaged food to be sent to Gaza for people in need. Through these experiences, Zizo has become an anti-war advocate. His says his goal is to create a voice for the Palestinian people and to promote peace.

In 2021, Zizo attended Camp Ramallah, a US based summer camp sponsored by the American Federation of Ramallah Palestine. This camp focuses on teaching children about the Palestinian culture and the current conflict in which they are involved.  Ghazi says, “I learned valuable information about the origins of the conflict, and it opened my eyes to the current situation and gave me a deeper understanding of the history of Palestine.”

In 2023 and 2024, Zizo attended an AFRP summit called "Day of Action." His group met with State Department officials responsible for Middle East and Palestinian issues and diplomacy. They discussed how his group uses social media to help educate people in the US about the history of the Palestinian people and their current situation.

Zizo has created a website highlighting the suffering of the Palestinian people and the daily bombing Gaza has endured. He wants to use this website to help people understand what residents of Gaza are going through. He hopes that awareness of the bombing and the destruction of infrastructure, homes, hospitals, and the resulting mass starvation will help everyone see that the only true path toward peace is to end war.

Zizo is currently working to create an advocacy group in his school.  He hopes that they will raise money for peace organizations and for charities, such as the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund, dedicated to helping those in need. He says that his goal for the future is to work through advocacy and political involvement to “ignite a collective movement among young people to stand in solidarity with oppressed communities worldwide.”
