Caleb Crawford, Senior
Cedar Lane High School
2025-2026

Just by being himself, Caleb has created an atmosphere of peacefulness in our high school that positively influences other students. Caleb is consistently warm and welcoming to new Cedar Lane students and faculty.  He customarily invites new students into his social circle, which is especially helpful in a small school with many students who have anxiety or other difficulties with typical peer interactions. He also notifies clinicians when he observes that a peer is struggling to assure that they receive the support they need.

This school year, Caleb was elected by the students to be co-president of the Student Government Association.  As a leader in the school, he regularly does the morning announcements over the intercom, and again, his calm yet enthusiastic voice sets a mood of positivity for the day.

During our summer program, Caleb participated in small group activities and always chose to make positive contributions to what was going on through his actions and gentle voice.  In an atmosphere where students are often loud and contentious in their expression, Caleb’s demeanor is consistently calming and helpful.

You can glean the way Caleb fosters peace from the collage he recently made:

As you can see, Caleb prioritized themes of unity, positivity, kindness, and inclusivity in his artwork about himself – “Love them like family,” “Stories to make you smile,” and “Helping everyone.”

Caleb willingly contributes to schoolwide projects and initiatives.  For example, he has assisted with weeding and maintenance in the garden. He also volunteers for our school’s Cedar Closet, which is a place that students or families can get clothing, shoes, school supplies, or food when they need it.

Caleb leads by example. He makes it a priority to project an attitude of calm cheerfulness which fosters the same reactions in others. He is planning to teach special education one day, and he has the caring and interested personality that would make him a great teacher.
